The IOEBA's Blue - Ribbon ('BR') Bred Designation

The Blue Ribbon designation is awarded to eligible dogs at birth by the International Olde English Bulldogge Association and is signified in all IOEBA records by the letters 'BR' appearing before the dog's name.

 A.  The permanent registration certificate is a two-sided document with certified registration information on the front side and a Bill of Sale / Transfer information on the back side.
Permanent registration certificates issued to Blue Ribbon-bred dogs will include the IOEBA trademark Blue Ribbon seal.

A permanent registration certificate is issued:

  1. When an individual puppy in a IOEBA registered litter is registered to its new owner and issued an IOEBA registration number; or

  2. When an individual dog is registered through the Single Registration procedure.

  B.  Blue Ribbon-bred dogs have at least four generations of known ancestors and all 14 ancestors within the last three generations must be registered with the IOEBA (indicated by all 14 ancestors having IOEBA registration numbers). The absence of a IOEBA registration number shows that there are some single-registered dogs in the pedigree and no 'BR' pedigree will be issued.

  C.  Breeders who wish to produce Blue Ribbon-bred puppies must either: breed Blue Ribbon-registered males to Blue Ribbon-registered females, thereby assuring that the offspring will carry this esteemed designation; or carefully research the pedigrees of potential sires and dams that are not Blue Ribbon bred.  If an unregistered ancestor is in the third generation of a sire or dam's pedigree, it is possible for that sire or dam to produce a first generation Blue Ribbon-bred litter.  If one or more single-registered dogs appear in the first or second generation of the sire or dam's pedigree, the offspring will not be Blue Ribbon bred and therefore will not receive Blue Ribbon-bred status.

  D.  The registration certificates and pedigrees of Blue Ribbon-bred dogs bear the official 'BR'. The ancestors of Blue Ribbon-bred dogs can be traced for six generations and possibly more-perhaps to the foundation stock of the breed.
